The American company Dell confirmed its permanent departure from Russia, after stopping its sales last March, in protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as large numbers of giant technology companies had withdrawn from the Russian market immediately after the start of Russian military operations in Ukraine.

 

A Dell spokesperson told Reuters that the company "closed its offices and halted all operations in Russia in mid-August, and that the vast majority of specialists at Dell's R&D center and support engineers in St Petersburg have already received competitively paid job offers from Russian producers." ".

Many companies stopped doing business in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine last February, with some companies leaving entirely in the months following the Russian military operation.

 

 Intel suspended operations in Russia last April, Nokia brand did the same, IBM laid off its Russian employees last June while some other companies took a wait-and-see approach due to ongoing political tensions.

 

Combined with US sanctions, Russia has been forced to reconsider its dependence on foreign companies, after dozens of major companies exited, as regulators within Russia fined Twitch, Pinterest, Airbnb and UPS for data storage violations; It also imposed record fines on Google, including a fine of 370 million dollars, because "YouTube intentionally promotes the dissemination of misleading information."
