Saudi Arabia unveiled its vision to host World Expo 2030 in Riyadh at a symposium in Paris on 6 November. Legends PR and Communications agency managed the Kingdom’s media campaign during the symposium, which was also attended by delegates from the two other prospective cities  – Busan, South Korea, and Rome, Italy.

The high-level Saudi delegation included Adel Al-Jubeir, the minister of state for foreign affairs and the Kingdom’s climate envoy, as well as the ministers of tourism, economy, communications, and culture. Their presentation was made to officials of the Bureau International des Expositions, which will announce the winning city during its general assembly on 28 November.

Riyadh’s proposal to host the Expo 2030 world fair is based on the theme The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow, and focuses on three key areas: a different tomorrow, climate action, and prosperity for all. It comprises 226 participants from 196 countries worldwide, at a cost of $7.8 billion. The city’s participation in the symposium was an exceptional opportunity to showcase its remarkable growth and transformation and to exhibit its global potential.

Legends developed a fully fledged communications strategy to support Saudi Arabia’s bid to host such an important global event. As well as creating a media kit and developing environmental, technical, and historical angles, it invited prominent media companies to cover its bid. These included French and Spanish news agencies AFP and EFE, newspapers Le Monde and Le Figaro, TV stations France 24, Euronews, TV5, Arte, French radio RFI, Belgian newspaper De Tijd, French sports paper L'Équipe, and Saudi media such as Al Arabiya and Arab News.
